What We Do

NRW.TECH Institute enables the structured integration of international engineering capabilities into Germany’s industrial and innovation environments.

Rather than providing conventional advisory services, the institute operates at the interface between technology providers, industrial partners, applied research actors and cooperation platforms to prepare technologies for participation in long-term industrial collaboration structures.

Its activities focus on three complementary areas:

Capability Qualification

NRW.TECH evaluates technologies with regard to their industrial applicability, cooperation interfaces and positioning potential within German production, research and regulatory environments. The objective is to clarify where and how capabilities can realistically connect to existing structures.

Interface Development

The institute supports the alignment of external technologies with relevant partners, cluster environments and cooperation formats across North Rhine-Westphalia. This includes preparing interaction contexts in which engineering capabilities can be assessed and further developed jointly with ecosystem actors.

Integration Preparation

Where cooperation perspectives emerge, NRW.TECH contributes to structuring early-stage collaboration formats such as pilot constellations, supplier-level entry scenarios and applied research interactions that enable technologies to move toward operational participation in industrial settings.

NRW.TECH works across selected deep-technology domains that are strongly represented in North Rhine-Westphalia’s industrial and innovation landscape, including:

Biotechnology and life sciences environments
Cybersecurity and digital infrastructure technologies
Chemicals and new materials
Digital and AI-enabled industrial systems
Energy technologies and hydrogen-related solutions
Greentech and circular industrial processes
Medical technologies
Defence and aerospace-related innovation contexts

Within these environments, the institute supports the transition from technological capability to structured industrial cooperation.
